Mark Rust

with

Dawud Wharnsby

Mark was the youngest member of the travelling Rust Family. An accomplished performer on a variety of instruments including piano, banjo, fiddle, mountain, and hammered dulcimer, Mark’s music and stage presence reflect the harmonies of nature, and the simplicity and beauty of life as he has known it growing up in the Catskill Mountains. A prolific composer, he has been called “one of the Northeast’s great undiscovered songwriters”.

Kitchener singer-songwriter Dawud Wharnsby has released 15 cds and 5 poetry anthologies. He has taken his songs around the world in concerts and live broadcasts. A multi-instrumentalist, children’s author, puppeteer, TV host, music producer, and urban farmer, Dawud seldom finds time to play in his home town, so this is a rare opportunity to hear him!

EUNOIA

Fujiwara Dance Inventions

a verbal, visual, and visceral journey

Eunoia is Christian Bök’s award-winning and bestselling book of conceptual poetry. It is built on the notion of constraining language to one vowel per chapter and tells stories in ways that are as pleasurable as they are ingenious. Denise Fujiwara’s adaptation of the book is a multimedia experience of dance, video, music and costume that employs similar constraints in such inventive ways that it has resulted in a groundbreaking performance lauded by audiences and critics alike.

EUNOIA takes the audience on a verbal, visual and visceral journey. The conceit of the poem is introduced through games and then builds in complexity with fanciful narratives and semiotic play. Initially the audience grapples with the rich play of words and images, and then as the performance unfolds, they surrender to the surprises and wit that are revealed through layers of meaning in the moment.

Great comics re-booked from February’s frightful weather!

Nader Mansour

Nader Mansour offers a fresh comedy perspective with his original take on the middle east and growing up as a Christian Arab.

Nader’s one of our favourite KW funnymen, and we’re happy to have him back to host Comedy@The Registry.

Hunter Collins

Hunter Collins is North America’s foremost nincompoop comedian. Originally from Montreal, he has graced the stage at countless illegal baby-fighting rings and festivals including JFL42, The Halifax Comedy Festival and The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He recently hosted the 18th annual Canadian Comedy Awards and his latest comedy album “Nincom2oop” debuted at #1 on the iTunes comedy charts.
Hunter is a graduate of the Comedy Writing & Performance program at Humber College, where he won the Mike Myers Award, which is given to the graduate who achieves the highest levels of performance and professionalism (and who is also mondo rad).
He is happily married to 30 Mormon ladies and has 96 biological children.

Aisha Brown

Aisha Brown is known as one of the top 3 Aisha’s in North American stand-up comedy.  In 2016 she debuted at Montreal’s renowned Just For Laughs festival taping an All Access televised set, and as a featured performer for Kevin Hart’s LOL network. Last year Aisha opened for SNL’s Michael Che at the Danforth Music Hall, and The Daily Show’s Roy Wood Jr at JFL42. She’s also performed at Montreal Sketchfest, the Field Trip Festival, the Guelph Comedy Festival and the Kitchener Waterloo Comedy Festival.
Aisha has written for CBC Comedy, Baroness Von Sketch and has been featured on CBC Radio’s The Debaters and Because News. She’s also written for and has been featured on The Beaverton. Aisha has also released 2 albums with Toronto hip hop comedy collective Runnin’ At The Mouth.
