THE REGISTRY THEATRE IS OPERATED BY J.M. DRAMA, A REGISTERED CHARITY
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Lily Gyamfi-Kumanini, Chair
Lily (she/her; aka Lily Schumacher) has been with J.M. Drama Alumni since 2016, first as a cast member in The Arab-Israeli Cookbook, then joined the Board of Directors the following year. Originally from K-W, Lily is the Chair of the J.M. Drama Alumni Board of Directors (operators of The Registry Theatre), an Actor, Speaker, Holistic Practitioner, Coach and Homeschooling Mom. After moving from the area for school, she continued her creative pursuits in Toronto before heading to The Bahamas for 15 years. There she remained a performer doing voice over, radio and film, commercials, and eventually moving into an Executive role with The Bahamas International Film Festival. Since Lily’s return to K-W she has performed with J.M. Drama, Guelph Little Theatre, and Green Light Arts. She remains passionate about the arts being a necessary thread that keeps a community intact, and continues to contribute within the K-W community however she can.
Mark Panchaud, Vice Chair
Mark (he/him) is a founding member and past president of J.M. Drama, here from the days when the concept was discussed around a dining room table on Ellen Street. Mark has been a partner and owner of Primespec for the past 33 years. He is a Fourth Dan in Tae Kwon Do and enjoys teaching the martial art in Listowel. Mark has acted, sung, produced, and directed in many of J.M. Drama’s productions. He trusts his various experiences will help contribute to the ongoing success of The Registry Theatre.
Kevin White, Secretary
Kevin (he/him) is a life-long resident of Kitchener-Waterloo and first appeared on stage with J.M. Drama in 2005’s Radio Mysteries. Several years and several productions with J.M. Drama later, he is pleased to be a part of this community-minded organization on the Board of Directors.
Marian Margaret Boyer, Director
Marian (she/her) has been a board member (and briefly former Board President) for over 12 years. As a past professional theatre costume and set designer for over 17 years, she has designed many J.M. productions including Sweeney Todd, The Odd Couple, Snoopy, Cabaret, Evita, The Producers and Dracula. Marian’s career trajectory into the world of business and an MBA has helped her confidence in supporting the J.M. Board and The Registry Theatre. And after six decades since she picked up a paint brush, Marian is gradually leaving behind the frenetic pace of the work world to transition into “retirement”, which simply means more time doing what she loves the most – painting and arts community building.
Annie Doran, Director
Annie (she/her) is a passionate artist, arts supporter, and community builder. She first became involved with The Registry Theatre through Porch View Dances, an outdoor dance event presented in partnership with the King East Neighbourhood Association. Graphic designer, seamstress, ardent home renovator, gardener, and full-time cat lover, Annie is constantly signing up for more than she probably should!
Sunny Ticknor-Malton, Director
Sunny (they/he) has spent most of their life in the theatre, performing on a large stage for the first time at age 11 with the Community Players of New Hamburg. Since then, his theatre family has extended to KWMP, KWLT, Lost and Found Theatre, Lightning Banjo Productions, Outfest, and to Toronto to attend the Randolph Academy of Performing Arts. Outside of his daily work in developmental services as well as co-parenting two young tornadoes, Sunny occasionally appears locally as a cast member, singer, songwriter, director, and music director. Any opportunity to spend time at The Registry Theatre is like coming home, whether by performing, working front of house, supporting from the audience, and now as a proud J.M. Drama Alumni Board Member.
Angela Pause, Director
Angela (she/her) is an award-winning professional writer, former journalist, strategist, and lifelong learner who never met an interesting challenge she didn’t want to take on. As part of Advancement at the University of Waterloo, she connects donors with opportunities to support groundbreaking research and education. A former TEDxWaterloo organizer, she thrives on bringing people together to spark big ideas. A long-time resident and enthusiastic ambassador of Kitchener-Waterloo, Angela is passionate about community building and making knowledge accessible, whether in education, technology, or the arts. While she currently knows little about the theatre business, she is excited to support J.M. Drama and The Registry Theatre to help bring more of its creative energy to the community.
